The company research skill is a slash command for Claude that produces a complete account brief in one step — combining publicly available data about the company with your live CTD relationship data. Everything you'd want before a first call, an intro, or a QBR, surfaced in seconds.
See it in action
How to run it
In any Claude chat window (Desktop or Cowork), type:
/company-research [company name or domain]
For example: /company-research Xactly or /company-research xactly.com
Claude will look up the company, pull your CTD network data, and return a structured brief — no prompting, no copy-pasting, no tab switching.
What the brief includes
Company overview
Firmographics pulled from public sources: what the company does, founding year, HQ, headcount, stage (public, PE-backed, VC-backed, bootstrapped), and current investor or owner. Direct links to the company's CTD profile, LinkedIn page, and website are included at the top.
Team reach stats
A summary of your organization's relationship footprint at the company:
- You know — people at this company who are directly in your network
- Reachable — total people reachable through your team's connections
- Warm paths — distinct introduction routes available right now
- Team reach — overall relationship strength (Strong / Familiar / Weak)
Warm paths
All reachable people at the company, grouped by seniority. Executive contacts (CEO, CRO, CTO, CPO, and other C-suite) are surfaced first with their title, best connector, and relationship strength. For each exec, the brief shows who in your org has the warmest path and how many additional routes exist.
Former employees
People who used to work at this company and are now reachable through your network — useful for getting an insider perspective, understanding the culture, or finding a champion who's moved on. Each entry shows their current role and company, their former title, and when they left.
Investors
Current and historical investors — VCs, PE firms, strategic backers. For PE-owned companies, includes the acquisition date. For venture-backed companies, includes notable fund names and approximate total raised.
Signals
Recent news and company events flagged by type: product launches, leadership changes, expansions, funding rounds, layoffs, and M&A. Signals are dated so you can prioritize the most timely ones for outreach.
How to install the skill
The skill is a zip file you install into Claude Code or Cowork. Once installed, the /company-research slash command becomes available in any Claude session where your CTD MCP is also connected.

- The
/company-researchcommand will appear in your slash command list immediately
When to use it
The skill is most useful before any high-stakes touchpoint with an account:
- Before a first call — understand who you're talking to, what's changed recently, and who in your org knows them
- Before an intro request — confirm the warm path, check the exec's current role and level, and frame the ask correctly
- Before a QBR or renewal — check for leadership changes, new hires, or recent signals that could affect the conversation
- Before an outbound sequence — identify who to target, what's going on at the company, and what angle will land
/company-research on the account before the first outreach to make sure the rep has full context.
