Private Equity

The portfolio network layer for private equity.

Cold emails get deleted. Warm introductions get meetings. The firms closing deals ahead of everyone else aren't working harder - they're getting to the right conversation through the right person. CTD tells you exactly where the warm path is, and who on your team can open it.

92% of senior executives ignore cold outreach. Warm introductions still work every time.
The relationship capital problem

The relationships exist. The firm just can't see them.

PE firms have operating playbooks, deal playbooks and CRMs. None of them can answer the one question that matters: who on our team actually knows this person well enough to make an introduction?

The paths are hidden today

An analyst's college roommate is chief of staff to a target's CEO. A developer's aunt is COO at a prospect you've been chasing. A former intern's mentor sits on the board of your next acquisition. These connections exist - they're just hidden.

LinkedIn shows connections. CTD shows relationships.

Today the average professional has thousands of connections - most of whom they couldn't introduce you to if they tried. CTD scores how well your people actually know someone, and who has the best path.

Private equity is in a difficult cycle - exits down, holding periods stretched, entry multiples high. Your firm's collective network is the edge that's already in the room. CTD turns it into a searchable, accountable asset.

"Over ten years I've made more than 10,000 introductions for our portfolio companies. CTD makes it easy - I use it many times every week."

CRM + LinkedIn vs CTD

You have a CRM and LinkedIn. Here's what they can't do.

CTD gives you five capabilities neither tool can.

Your CRM & LinkedInWith CTD
01
Your CRM shows your firm's direct contacts.
CTD shows second-degree connections across your entire firm - the combined extended network of every partner, executive and team member.
02
LinkedIn only maps connections made on LinkedIn.
CTD maps LinkedIn plus email - surfacing thousands of relationships per person that don't exist on LinkedIn at all.
03
LinkedIn can't show your external network's connections.
When founders and connectors join as external members, their first-degree relationships become visible warm paths for the whole firm.
04
LinkedIn doesn't infer relationships.
CTD detects relationships from overlapping employment, shared board seats and career signals - even with no direct email or LinkedIn connection.
05
LinkedIn treats all connections the same.
CTD scores every relationship using email patterns, recency and career overlaps - so you know who actually has a strong relationship, not just a connection.
How it works

Built for the way PE firms operate

From deployment to measurable, relationship-driven outcomes.

1

Onboard your firm's network

Connect your firm's email server - no individual setup required. CTD maps every relationship automatically within days, then enriches it with publicly available data to surface even more warm paths.

2

Build the firm's Supergraph

Relationships are ranked by strength, deduplicated and searchable across partners, portfolio leadership and extended members.

3

Search any target

Find warm paths to acquisition targets, enterprise prospects or executive candidates - instantly, across the firm's entire network.

4

Activate warm introductions

One-click intro requests go to the best-positioned connector, with timing managed to prevent overlap and connector fatigue.

5

Measure what matters

Track intro volume, meeting conversion, deals influenced and revenue generated - turning relationship capital into a reportable asset.

6

Expand it to your portfolio companies

Bring your portfolio companies onto CTD - their networks join the firm's, and they get CTD to grow their own business. The more of your portfolio that's on CTD, the more powerful everyone's network becomes.

How PE firms use CTD

Multiply value across the portfolio

Invite portfolio leaders as external members for a network multiplier effect - the whole ecosystem gets more connected.

Find & place top talent

Natural-language search for candidates - CROs, VPs of Sales - across the firm's entire network, with the strongest path to each.

Drive event attendance

Hosting a leaders' dinner or gathering? Find the right attendees and coordinate warm intros through the best-connected person.

Walk into every meeting warm

See which attendees connect to your firm's network - so every conversation is warm and every meeting is intentional.

FAQ

Common questions

We already have a CRM and deal-flow platform. How is this different?

Your CRM tracks companies and deals. CTD maps the people - and more importantly, who across your entire firm already knows them. It's the layer between your firm's collective relationships and the deals you want to make.

And it works with your existing stack, not against it. Connect Salesforce or HubSpot and CTD enriches your CRM records with relationship intelligence - relationship scores, number of warm paths, connection strength, contact titles and more - and syncs your target accounts daily. Everything you see in CTD is exposed via the API, so you choose exactly what flows back into your CRM.

Will operating partners actually adopt this?

CTD is built for low-friction adoption. When you roll out across the firm, admins can set up accounts without each person lifting a finger - we build everyone's graph automatically from their connected work email. From there, each person can opt in to add more: connect a personal inbox, or add their LinkedIn connections and messages.

And we've made that effortless - just drag and drop your LinkedIn export and tell Claude "upload this to CTD". So operating partners see immediate value with almost no effort.

What about confidentiality? Some relationships are sensitive.

You're always in control of what you share. You can mark any connection as private so no one else can see it - or start with a fully closed network and whitelist exactly who's allowed to see your connections. And even when a connection is shared, all anyone else ever sees is the person's name, avatar and your relationship score - never the underlying emails, messages or contact details.

Does CTD read my emails?

No. By default CTD reads only your email headers - who you emailed and when, not what you wrote. That's everything we need to score your relationships.

You can optionally grant access to email bodies, but we use them only to show you the emails you've exchanged with a person (on your request) and to pull contact details from email signatures. Even then, CTD never stores email bodies on our servers.

How does relationship scoring work?

It starts with your real email activity - and it only counts when it's two-way. If someone emailed you 100 times but you never replied, that's a zero. Big group threads (you plus 100 other people) don't count either - you and the other person have to email each other directly. From there, the more you've exchanged and the more recently, the higher the score.

Upload your LinkedIn data and we layer it in: a connection on its own is a weak signal, but two-way LinkedIn messages (or real email history) bump it up.

Then we go further. Using public data, we surface relationships you'd otherwise miss - if you and someone never emailed and aren't even connected, but you worked at the same company, at the same time, in similar roles (say, both VPs), we predict you know each other. That opens up far more warm paths - with zero extra effort from you.

We have an internal tool where we consolidate all our data. Can we integrate CTD there?

Yes. Everything in CTD is exposed via our API - relationship scores, warm paths, connection strength, contact details and more - so you can pull it straight into your internal tools or data warehouse. And our team will provide resources and hands-on support to help you get the integration done.

Portfolio program

Bring CTD to your whole portfolio

You already give your portfolio companies a stack of resources. Add CTD to it: each portco gets a better way to grow through warm intros - and your firm gets rewarded for bringing them on.

Your portfolio gets a deal

Promote CTD in your portfolio resources and we'll give you an exclusive 20% discount code for your portfolio companies - good on both Team and Business editions, so every portco can activate its own network from day one.

When both sides are on CTD, the value compounds

This is the end goal. Once your firm and your portfolio are both on CTD, your networks connect: your portfolio opens doors for the firm, the firm opens doors for the portfolio, and every warm path becomes visible and actionable. The more of your portfolio that joins, the more powerful it gets.

Become a partner

Your firm's greatest advantage is already in the room.

Time to make it work.
